Speaker Wire Gauge Calculator

Calculate minimum wire gauge based on speaker impedance, amplifier power and cable run length.

How We Calculate This

Cable Resistance

Total Resistance = Resistance per Metre x Cable Length x 2 (round trip)

Power Loss

Loss % = Cable Resistance / (Speaker Impedance + Cable Resistance) x 100

Damping Factor

DF = Speaker Impedance / Cable Resistance

Higher damping factor means better bass control. Aim for DF above 20.
