Room Acoustics Calculator — Room Modes & Dimensions
Estimate room modes, resonant frequencies and dimension ratios from your room measurements.
How We Calculate This
This calculator determines the axial room modes using the formula:
f = n × v / (2 × L)
Where n is the mode number (1, 2, 3...), v is the speed of sound (343 m/s at 20°C), and L is the room dimension in metres. The first four axial modes are calculated for each dimension (length, width, height).
The Schroeder frequency is estimated as f = 2000 × √(RT60 / V), using an estimated RT60 of 0.5 seconds for an untreated room.
