When creating seamless loops in a DAW or sampler, setting the loop point to the exact sample ensures there are no clicks, pops or timing drift. Even being one sample off can cause an audible glitch at the loop boundary.

How do I calculate the length of one beat in milliseconds?

Divide 60,000 by the BPM. For example, at 120 BPM: 60,000 / 120 = 500ms per beat. At 128 BPM: 60,000 / 128 = 468.75ms per beat.

Does sample rate affect loop length?

The loop length in time (milliseconds) stays the same regardless of sample rate. However, the number of samples in the loop changes — at 44,100 Hz there are fewer samples per second than at 96,000 Hz, so the sample count for the same loop duration will differ.
